State is the name of the coldest of all cold monsters.

Coldly it lies; and this lie slips from its mouth:
"I, the state, am the people."

Liberty and Nothing Less

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force.
Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

-George Washington

George Washington was the indispensable man in US history. He well understood the natural character of government and led the fight for American Liberty against oppression. Unfortunately today we Americans are still fighting the same fight except it is not against a foreign government but our own.

I leave you with a final thought by syndicated radio talk show host Paul Harvey to ruminate:

They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here?

Warner-Lieberman Climate Security Act Dead

According to Politico.com's article the Warner-Lieberman Climate Security Act is dead at least for now being defeated by a vote of 48-36 with some noteable absences that would have pushed the bill to passing by a margin of 52-36. John McCain, Teddy Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Barak Obama would have likely all supported the bill.

The news is not all good though. This bill will likely come forward once again next year with a much for favorable situation. As Dick Morris points out in a recent column for Rasmussen Reports the Senate this year will likely slide into a large Democratic majority and possibly a veto proof majority. Even without a veto proof majority passage of the bill is very possible unless Libertarian Presidential nominee Bob Barr can stun everyone and take office because both Barak Obama and John McCain support this bill.

The bill did come up against opposition from some Democrats from states with large industrial and mining operations like Louisiana and Ohio who said the bill would result in job decreases in their states for little impact as the jobs would be moved overseas where the legislation would have no impact. The bill could have negative consequences because of more lenient pollution legislation elsewhere in the world as compared to current regulations in the United States.

The bill has come forward at a bad time with high gas prices and the fact that higher taxes would be placed on energy if this act were to pass.

$5 Gas Around the Corner: Take Action

Today we have reached a new record high in oil at over $138 a barrel, up $10.75 in a single day, on a bad job report and a declining dollar. Market analysts are now predicting oil to be at $150 by July the 4th. You think $4 a gallon gas is bad, just wait until $5 a gallon as some analysts are predicting.

What is contributing to this?

1) A declining dollar:
With an economy in slow down and interest rates being cut with the possibility of interest rate increases in Europe the US dollar is declining causing inflation on energy. Add to the the possibility of a windfall profit tax, higher income tax rates, and a 28% capital gains tax we can expect a dollar to continue a decline.
2) Decreasing supply:
Currently the world uses 85 million barrels of oil a day but we only produce 87 million barrels a day meaning that supplies barely meet demands. With increased demand and a decreasing or stagnant supply prices will remain high until either demand decreases or supply increases. The first is not likely but the second can be resolved.
3) Speculation and Congressional Inaction/Action:
Some of you may question this conjecture between these two elements but let me convince you.

Speculation is based off of current events (political and economic), current supply and demand, future political and economic events, and future supply and demand. Currently in the the US Senate is debating the Warner-Lieberman Climate Security Act, which will make energy production more difficult and more costly. Some analysts are predicting a decrease in domestic energy output by 9.5%.

With a decrease in supply expected because of Congressional negative action reducing supply, lack of Congressional actions on lifting regulations prohibiting drilling in the Continental US and offshore, the restrictions on building coal and nuclear plants, and Congressional over regulation on building new refineries the supply shows no indication of increasing. Congressional negative actions and inaction are have a negative impact on the future of supply for oil supplies.

Add to this a rapidly growing Third World, primarily India and China, and you have quite the problem because increased demand cannot be met by current supply forecasts.

This all leads to higher speculation on oil prices leading to dramatic increases in oil prices and consequentially the cost at the pump.

This gives me another opportunity to tell you about AmericanSolutions.com Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less petition. As of 2:50 pm CDT the petition has collected over 397,000 signatures from Americans just like you who are fed up with the special interests pandering by the US government. This bill is designed to help stop the devastating effects of the Warner-Lieberman Climate Security Act.

Is Obama Ready?

Is Obama ready to lead? What has he done? Does he have the experience necessary ready to lead the country onto the world stage and take over the world's most powerful position? Is Obama ready?

These are all questions that must be answered and so far I think I can see that the answer is a resounding no! He was a member of the Illinois State Legislature for 1 year before running for the his 2 year term in the US Senate. Take away the time he has been campaigning and he has only 1 year of real experience in the US Senate. Is Obama ready?

He says we must negotiate without any preconditions with our enemy's. He says we must raise taxes in a declining economy. He says we must create a nationalized health care program that has failed in every other country it has been introduced in. He wants to make the US subservient to United Nations laws that would restrict our right to own firearms and increase our tax burden. Is Barak Obama ready?

He is friends with former terrorists who say they wish they would have done more attacks and pastors who denigrate America. Obama is subservient to the special interests who favor not drilling for oil or build refineries to help bring energy prices down. Is Obama ready?

Take a look to see what other Democrats say about Barak Obama and his readiness to lead. If they have questions about his readiness and experience, why shouldn't you?
